One year of Employee Ownership Ireland

One year ago, we launched Employee Ownership Ireland with a clear aim. Make employee ownership visible, practical and credible in Northern Ireland.

Industry led, Government Backed
Employee owners
658 → 1,300+
In twelve months since launch
What we delivered
15 feasibility studies supported
6 roadshows delivered
Conferences across the UK and Ireland

From 658 to over 1,300 employee owners

On launch day, 658 people worked in employee-owned businesses here. Today, that number is over 1,300.

That growth did not happen by chance.

  • Owners asked better questions about succession
  • Advisors raised employee ownership as a serious option
  • Employees saw ownership as something real, not theoretical

Highlight

Feasibility studies that help owners move from interest to action

We have supported 15 companies through feasibility studies. They helped owners test the numbers, explore the structure, and decide next steps with confidence.

Industry led, Government backed

This year marked a major milestone for employee ownership in Northern Ireland. We are now supported by the Department for the Economy.

That support reflects growing confidence in employee ownership as a credible business succession and growth model.

Northern Ireland on the global radar

In twelve months, our work has travelled far beyond Northern Ireland. People across the world have tracked the pace of growth with positive feedback from Denmark, Canada, the US and more. We have taken the message across the UK and Ireland.

Northern Ireland now sits as a forerunner in the new growth of employee ownership.

A stronger board and deeper experience

Our board has grown in size and depth. That growth strengthened governance and widened the range of experience around the table.

A website built to be used

The website expanded quickly because demand required it. People wanted clear answers and tools they could use.

Real stories. Real voices.

Webinars helped owners hear directly from people who have done it. They also helped advisors understand what changes, and what stays the same, after transition.

Roadshows, meetings, and shared learning

We ran 6 roadshows across Northern Ireland. We met owners, employees, and advisors face to face. We kept bringing what we learned back into practical support.
